Polycyclone Dust Collection System — Biomass Boiler Plant, Greece

Supply and installation of a 12-cyclone polycyclone array (4 levels) for a biomass boiler facility, managing 35,000 Am³/h of hot flue gas at 250 °C and achieving >95% dust collection efficiency across a wide particle size range (<5–>50 µm).

The primary challenge was managing a high flow rate of hot flue gases (35,000 Am³/h at 250 °C) in continuous operation, while achieving high particle retention efficiency across a wide particle size spectrum (<5–>50 µm).

PM Engineering designed a polycyclone system to achieve optimal separation by ensuring ideal rotational speed and airflow. The complete assembly is built in a configuration of 12 internal cyclones arranged across four levels. Inside the cyclones, the air completes 6 full rotations; the resulting centrifugal force achieves dust collection efficiency of >95%.
