Heavy-Duty Cyclone Dust Collection System — Animal Feed Plant, Greece
A heavy-duty cyclone with 4 mm ST-37 reinforced walls designed for continuous 30,000 m³/h airflow at an animal feed processing facility, achieving >95% dust collection efficiency with a neoprene-bladed rotary valve for airtight discharge.
The Challenge
The primary challenge was managing a high air volume (30,000 m³/h) in continuous operation, while the centrifugal force and constant rotation of large dust quantities against the cyclone walls caused rapid wear on standard metals. Additionally, the significant volume of dust retained by the cyclone required a reliable discharge system that would not disrupt the airflow inside the cyclone.
Our Solution
PM Engineering designed a heavy-duty cyclone with reinforced walls (4 mm ST-37 steel) and appropriate protective coating. For continuous dust discharge, a dedicated material collection hopper was integrated, maintaining suitable drainage angles. At the outlet, a rotary valve with neoprene flexible blades was installed to provide effective airtight sealing.
